Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr Boxing History

When Jake Paul first announced that he was focusing on boxing, few people took him seriously. After all, he had built a career as a controversial YouTuber, making it reasonable to wonder if he could have had a successful boxing tenure or if it was just a publicity stunt.

Well, Paul proved that he definitely has some skills in the ring. Fans weren't exactly impressed with his wins over fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and former NBA player Nate Robinson, but he's since fought some veteran combat sports veterans.

He scored a TKO victory over former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren in April 2021 and has two straight victories over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley by split decision and KO, respectively.

Obviously, Woodley and Askren weren't boxers to begin with, but Paul's disposal of them is something to admire. Having said that, Rahman could be his toughest test yet due to the latter's boxing history.

In most cases, Paul was close to the same size as his boxing opponent. However, Rahman is a heavyweight, with significant height and weight advantages that can make life difficult for social media stars.

Rahman can be upset?

As you can tell by the odds above, Rahman will enter next month's fight as the unanimous underdog against Paul. The 31-year-old will be looking to regain some momentum after his first career defeat to James McKenzie Morrison in April.

Still, it's important to note that Rahman was a solid 12-0 in his boxing career prior to this loss. It's tough when you're trying to live up to the hype of your father, who happens to be a former two-time world heavyweight champion. However, he is clearly doing a good job following in his father's footsteps.

Defeating a big star like Paul at a PPV would be a great way for Rahman to really make a name for himself. As mentioned earlier, Rahman has some advantages over his opponents. She is three inches taller than Paul and weighs a lot more.

Photos from their recent press conference do a good job of showing that difference.

It will be interesting to see if Rahman tries to outplay Paul or go for the knockout. While six of the 31-year-old's 12 career wins have come by KO/TKO, he's won just as many over the distance. In fact, five of his last seven wins have come by decision.

Rahman hasn't beaten the "KK" of boxing, but he has more experience than Paul inside the ring. If he can make the most of that experience and his size advantage, pulling off an upset is certainly within the realm of possibility.

At the end of the day, this fight means different things to each boxer. For Paul, it presents an opportunity to build on his unlikely boxing legacy. For Rahman, this is the biggest opportunity of his career to grab the spotlight on a bigger stage.

While Paul is the clear betting favorite at this point, this is definitely a fight that could go either way.
